Handmade Diamond shade by Jeremy Walton, 2009. E-craftbook jw 006
Dimension 55 cm x 55 cm x 70 cm. Various selected paper and milk cartons.

Lampshade made as part of the Made personally exhibition at Mooment shop. This lampshade uses the e-craftbook jw 006 (available to down load and make your own at designyoumake.com, just $10. Or this one needs a home for slightly more than $10.)

My subject for this shade is an Iceberg. I done some in-depth study of icebergs (couple of photos on google images) The diamond shade lends itself to the form of the iceberg and I collected papers that are white, pure white and super white for above the water line. For below the water line and deeper inside the iceberg, I collected blue paper, milk cartons and the monthly Map magazine by architect David Garcia. (Read more…)

Here I have printed the A5 cutout direct onto paper from a year account book, a Danish year account book, which is yellow and green.

Installation by Jeremy Walton June 2009. Roskilde Festival
Using, the Soon to be available JW oo6 Diamond Shade e-craftbook, I set about creating Cannon Smoke as part of the Silent Circus project in SoupaNatural’s circus tent in the Climate Community field of the Roskilde Festival.

Going along with the Circus theme, I studied in detail (a couple of online photos) Cannon Smoke from human cannon ball acts. I attempted to recreate this using the lampshade diamonds made of craft paper, waste paper and good old milk cartons.

Lampshades handmade by Jeremy Walton June 2009. Roskilde Festival
The lampshades are made of folded panels joined together with virgin clips. A single metal ring sets the shade into its circular form.

Unlike my standard Panel Shades these ‘Virgin Trapese Shades’ use salvaged lampshade frames for the metal ring and the rest of the old lampshade frame remains hanging down within the new lampshade.
